A man named George (part 2 of 2)

by James Evangelidis on March 3, 2011

We continue the story of my encounter with George.

I ended the last post with the words “What do you think is wrong with the above scene?” It was Monday and it had been 5 days since I met George and no email.

I wanted to believe the best of the situation so I needed to establish contact with George and encourage him that its better to know people than not know people. So being a headhunter I have some skills in tracking people down. I got hold of George’s mobile phone number (sorry I can’t tell you how – its a trade secret) and sent him the following txt:

Hi George. I enjoyed meeting you briefly last week
whilst having a bite to eat in the ABCD food court.
I didn’t receive an email with your contact details
probably because you’ve been busy or may have
misplaced my card. No problem. If ever you need
any help just drop me a line. Warm regards,
James Evangelidis.

Within about 10 minutes of sending the txt I get the email below from George (obviously he still had my card with my email address).

All the best,

George

Would George have sent me the email if he wasn’t prompted by my txt? It was one week after our chance meeting and I hadn’t heard from him. Believe me I’m no one special but I really enjoy helping people if I can. His email didn’t really say anything. I feel sorry for people like George – life is so much richer when you can experience the opportunities that can arise of impromptu encounters.

There is a great quote made by the famous Swiss psychiatrist, Carl Jung:

The meeting of two personalities is like the contact of two chemical substances: if there is any reaction, both are transformed.

I hope that if I met you there would have been some reaction on your part :)

See you next post,
